Ever since my adorable neice played Mary Poppins on stage 2 weeks ago, Little Miss has insisted on having a Mary Poppins dress. Pattern is "Ellie's birthday dress" by Anne Dresow (@elleandroseknitwear) on Ravelry (with slight modifications by me for size, ribbing and fullness of skirt - noted in my Ravelry project). #marypoppins #knitdresses #knitstagram #handmade #jollyholiday

Distraction #2: More costumes! This time for dance classes. Among some other smaller projects for older classes, the most time consuming was making "Octopus tentacles" and sea star hair clips for my baby girl's class. I've never seen such adorable octopi! (@camilliemouse - possibly my favorite song choice for a tap dance ever) #octopusesgarden #octopi #danceclass #tinydancer Class photo credit @danicphotog (I've never seen anyone get such personality out of little tiny kiddoes for dance photos like she does!)

I've been MIA from my usual designing patterns for a few months. My first big distraction: helping sew costumes for my daughter's theater group's Mary Poppins, Jr. show! Costuming is a fun break from modern sewing. I mean, I don't get to sew giant puffy sleeves, ruffle neck collars and huge hair bows everyday. @centerstageyouthperformers #marypoppinsjr #marypoppins #centerstageyouthperformers
