A tiny watermelon purse for my watermelon-loving little squishy. Perfect size to carry her little ponies/shopkins/treasures on the go without mommy having to hold them. Pattern by @fluffandfuzz - "Watermelon Purse" by Amanda Berry - available for free on Ravelry. (All I did differently was pick up and knit 4 stitches on each side and knit an i-cord and kitchener stitch the two cords together at the top.) #knitstagram #watermelon #watermelonpurse #tinypurse

For this year's dance recital - inspiration struck again. We have always bought the traditional flower bouquets to give to the girls after their shows. They get excited for a minute, couldn't care less after they are home and in a vase of water, and then sad after a few days when they're dead and need to be thrown away. So this year I thought of candy bouquets! They usually BEG me for some of these candies that we just never buy (sometimes the Easter bunny and Santa are more generous). They turned out so cute, and the girls were super excited to get them...and bonus - CHEAPER THAN FLOWERS! #candybouquet #candy #flowersdieanyway

Ever since my adorable neice played Mary Poppins on stage 2 weeks ago, Little Miss has insisted on having a Mary Poppins dress. Pattern is "Ellie's birthday dress" by Anne Dresow (@elleandroseknitwear) on Ravelry (with slight modifications by me for size, ribbing and fullness of skirt - noted in my Ravelry project). #marypoppins #knitdresses #knitstagram #handmade #jollyholiday

Distraction #2: More costumes! This time for dance classes. Among some other smaller projects for older classes, the most time consuming was making "Octopus tentacles" and sea star hair clips for my baby girl's class. I've never seen such adorable octopi! (@camilliemouse - possibly my favorite song choice for a tap dance ever) #octopusesgarden #octopi #danceclass #tinydancer Class photo credit @danicphotog (I've never seen anyone get such personality out of little tiny kiddoes for dance photos like she does!)

I've been MIA from my usual designing patterns for a few months. My first big distraction: helping sew costumes for my daughter's theater group's Mary Poppins, Jr. show! Costuming is a fun break from modern sewing. I mean, I don't get to sew giant puffy sleeves, ruffle neck collars and huge hair bows everyday. @centerstageyouthperformers #marypoppinsjr #marypoppins #centerstageyouthperformers

My little 7-year-old shadow wanted to contribute to the February babies, too. So she learned how to make a baby hat on a loom! She has a tender heart and is always wanting to learn how to create things! 😍😍😍 #americanheartassociation #littlehatsbighearts #loomknitting #knitstagram #knittingkids

Babies born in February (American Heart Month) will get handmade hats and information from the American Heart Association to encourage moms and babies to live heart healthy lives! They're comin' your way on Monday @timpanogoshospital ! #littlehatsbighearts #hearthealthy #februarybabies #handknit #knitstagram
